SpaceX Successfully Launches 28 New Starlink Satellites

SpaceX has announced the successful launch of 28 new satellites as part of its Starlink project, aiming to expand its global internet network via satellites. These satellites were launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral launch facility in Florida.

Mission Details

The mission began on the morning of Sunday, August 31, 2025, with the rocket lifting off at 7:49 AM Eastern Time (1149 GMT). The mission took one hour and five minutes to reach low Earth orbit.

This mission is part of a long series of launches intended to provide high-speed internet to users worldwide, particularly in remote areas lacking traditional internet services.

Continued Success of the Falcon 9 Rocket

This mission marked the twenty-third use of the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket, known as booster 1077. It was successfully recovered once again after landing on the drone ship “Just Read the Instructions” in the Atlantic Ocean.

This achievement reflects SpaceX’s commitment to rocket reusability, significantly reducing satellite launch costs and facilitating access to space.

Expansion of the Starlink Network

With the launch of these new satellites, the Starlink network now comprises over 8,280 active units, out of more than 9,575 satellites launched since 2019. SpaceX aims to significantly increase this number in the coming years to provide complete global coverage.

The company seeks to offer high-speed internet services at lower costs, helping to bridge the digital divide between different regions worldwide.

Mission Importance in the Year’s Context

Sunday’s journey was SpaceX’s 112th mission in 2025, including 108 Falcon 9 launches and four suborbital tests of the company’s Starship vehicle.

This intense activity underscores SpaceX’s commitment to enhancing its space capabilities and continuing to provide innovative solutions to space communication challenges.

Conclusion

These successive launches by SpaceX affirm its leading role in the space industry, particularly in providing satellite internet services. As the Starlink network continues to expand, the coming years are expected to witness a revolution in internet access, improving the quality of life for millions of people around the world.
